If you're on a Galaxy Fold, consider unfolding your phone or viewing it in full screen to best optimize your experience.
When you're managing your finances, every little bit counts. Brokerage promotions and bonus offers can help boost your portfolio with very little effort. If you're interested in Charles Schwab promotions, keep reading -- we'll break down the current offers and how they compare to competitors below.
Charles Schwab
Schwab has aggressively slashed fees on its mutual funds and ETFs, eliminated common account fees, reduced commissions to $0 per trade, and allows investors to buy fractional shares of stock, making it extremely affordable.
$0 stock, ETF, and Schwab Mutual Fund OneSource® trades. No fees to buy fractional shares.
$0
You don't have to deposit much to earn this bonus, making it perfect for new investors.
The bonus: If you're new to Charles Schwab, you can jump-start your investing journey with $101 worth of free stocks. Just open a Schwab account and deposit at least $50, and you'll earn this shiny new account bonus.
How to earn it:
What you need to know: Schwab is giving new customers who meet certain requirements $101 worth of stocks. This $101 will be split equally between the top five stocks in the S&P 500 -- a great start to any investing adventure. The shares are fractional shares, which Schwab calls "stock slices." Only new customers opening individual brokerage accounts are eligible.
The bonus: Snag a bonus of between $100 and $1,000 by joining Schwab through a friend's referral and depositing at least $25,000.
How to earn it:
What you need to know: Like the new account promotion, you can only earn this bonus if you're new to Schwab. Additionally, the bonus you get depends on the amount of cash you deposit in your account. Here are the bonus tiers:
Net Deposit | Bonus |
---|---|
$25,000 - $49,999 | $100 |
$50,000 - $99,999 | $300 |
$100,000 - $499,999 | $500 |
$500,000 or more | $1000 |
Not every Schwab brokerage account is eligible, so be sure to read the fine print before opening your account.
If brokerages competed in the Olympics, Charles Schwab's new account bonus would take home at least one medal. The bonus itself is worth double your investment -- you invest $50 and receive a bonus of $101 in stocks. With most brokerage bonuses, you have to invest more to receive the same amount.
Schwab's referral bonus is also pretty solid, but not exactly a standout winner. Many brokerages offer similar bonuses without requiring a referral code. If you're interested in investing at least $25,000, shop around before deciding which brokerage you'll call home.
