5 Hot Rewards Credit Cards for Christmas Shopping at Costco
KEY POINTS
- Costco only allows Visa credit cards in store.
- You can find a few cards with bonus rewards at wholesale clubs.
- A good flat-rate rewards card also works well at Costco -- and everywhere else.
Between the hot deals on big names and the great prices on holiday supplies, Costco is bound to be on your must-shop list this season. But before you head in for that huge holiday haul, you should consider if you're using the best rewards credit card for the task.
Costco has a rule that only Visa-network credit cards can be used in stores, which limits your options. The list still includes some great cards, all of which are handy to have even beyond your Costco shopping. Take a look.

There aren't many cash back cards that earn this much on gas and EV charging. Bonuses at restaurants, on travel, and at Costco and costco.com make this a well-rounded card overall. But there are some frustrating downsides, including a slow cash back redemption process and the lack of a sign-up bonus. Read Full Review

All right, so on first glance this might not make sense; this card would only earn 1X points per $1 at Costco since that's not one of the bonus categories. However, if you use Instacart to do your Costco shopping, those purchases reportedly code as online groceries (3X points). Costco Travel purchases also reportedly code as travel for 2X points per $1.
Even if you're shopping in the store and earning 1X per $1, you're earning Ultimate Rewards points that can be transferred to travel partners. A good Hyatt or United redemption could easily earn $0.02 per point, giving you an effective 2% back on those original Costco purchases.

Don't forget to enjoy the season
Wandering the windowless cavern that is Costco can wear away at anyone's holiday cheer. Make sure you're taking the time to be present with your friends and family this holiday season. No amount of gifts can replace your presence!
