Finding the best credit cards for concert tickets can be tricky because there are a lot of potential options. It helps to narrow it down to one or two credit card issuers. Here are some quick recommendations to figure this out.
American Express and Citi are the top choices for presale tickets and preferred seating. Any of their cards give you access to their respective entertainment programs.
If you want the best chance of getting seats, we recommend browsing options from each credit card issuer and picking one you like. American Express also offers unique Amex Experiences at some events.
There are, however, a couple exceptions to the rule.
If you use Ticketmaster, Chase offers exclusive presales and preferred seating on that digital platform. All Chase credit cards provide access, so you can choose whichever you like.
If you find multiple credit cards that could work for concert tickets, see how they fit the rest of your spending habits. For example, if you travel often, you may want to get a card with bonus rewards on airline purchases and hotel stays.

You might be wondering how a credit card can help you buy concert tickets. There are a few benefits that come in handy here. Some cards offer presales and preferred seating exclusively to cardholders. There are also cash back cards that offer big bonuses when purchasing concert tickets and concierge services that can help you find hard-to-get tickets in the first place.
Here are more details on how each of these benefits work and the cards that offer them.
Presales allow you to purchase tickets before they're available to the general public.
If you're trying to score tickets to see a popular artist, such as Taylor Swift, a presale could mean the difference between getting a great deal and paying more to buy from a reseller -- or missing out entirely.
Several major credit card companies have ticket presales that are accessible to all their cardholders, including:
The programs that typically have the most ticket presales are American Express Experiences and Citi Entertainment. If you mainly want access to exclusive ticket deals, then an American Express card or a Citi credit card are both great options.
Preferred seating is a selection of premium seats that aren't available to the general public.
By getting a credit card that has preferred seating, you may be able to buy concert tickets that are closer to the stage.
Card issuers that offer ticket presales usually also offer preferred seating, so this is a benefit you can get with cards from American Express, Capital One, Chase, or Citi. Once again, the programs offered by American Express and Citi often have the most deals.
Bonus rewards on concert tickets are rare, but there are a few credit cards that offer them.
The Citi Custom Cash® Card is a standout for this. It earns 5% cash back on up to $500 in your top eligible spend category each billing cycle. One of the eligible categories is live entertainment, which includes concerts, so you could maximize your credit card rewards on ticket purchases.
Concierge service is a credit card benefit that can help with a range of requests, including getting concert tickets.
A credit card concierge service can buy tickets for you and may be able to find ticket offers the general public can't. You're required to pay for purchases you authorize through the concierge.
While many credit cards offer concierge services, cards with larger annual fees often provide a higher level of service. The Platinum Card® from American Express is the most prominent example. It's one of the most expensive cards in terms of its annual fee (see rates and fees), and its Platinum Card® Concierge is a valuable feature for the level of service it offers. Terms apply.
As a general rule, it's recommended you pay off your entire credit card balance every month. That way, you don't get charged interest on your purchases, and you stay out of credit card debt.
However, if there's a concert you really want to go to that isn't quite in your budget, there is another option. You could use a credit card with a 0% intro APR on purchases. With this type of credit card, you pay no interest for the entire introductory period. And many cards offer a 0% intro APR for 12 months or longer.
That means you could buy the concert tickets you want and pay them off over time. Just make sure you pay them off during the intro period. Otherwise, the credit card issuer will start charging interest when the intro period ends.
At Motley Fool Money, we rate credit cards on a five-star scale (1 = poor, 5 = best). Our rating criteria includes rewards rates, welcome bonuses, fees, and perks like travel credits and 0% intro APR offers to evaluate our ratings.
Our highest-rated credit cards have:
We combine these factors with an evaluation of brand reputation and customer satisfaction to ensure you're getting the best card recommendations. Learn more about how Motley Fool Money rates credit cards.
The best credit cards for buying concert tickets are the Citi Custom Cash® Card and The Platinum Card® from American Express (terms apply). Both cards offer access to ticket presales and preferred seating.
The Citi Custom Cash® Card can also get you big bonus cash back on concert tickets. The Platinum Card® from American Express has a useful concierge service to help you with a variety of tasks, including buying concert tickets.
American Express, Capital One, Chase, and Citi cards all have presale benefits. Of the four, American Express and Citi tend to have the most offers for early access to concert tickets (terms apply). Both card issuers have presale benefits available to all of their cardholders, so you can take advantage with any American Express card or Citi card (terms apply).
Yes, you can earn credit card rewards on concert tickets. Rewards credit cards typically offer between 1% and 8% back on concert tickets, depending on the card and where you purchase the tickets.
