Top perks

Here's a closer look at the standout features of the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card.

0% intro APR for 18 billing cycles

The highlight of the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card is definitely its 0% intro APR, which lasts for the first 18 billing cycles and applies to both purchases and balance transfers.

There aren't many other credit cards, including personal and business cards, that can match this offer. You'll have a year and a half to pay off any business purchases you make or get out of credit card debt you transfer over.

Free employee cards with customizable spending rules

This is a no annual fee credit card, and employee credit cards are also available free of charge. Another benefit is that you can set controls on those cards, including specifying times, places, and dollar amounts. So, you can give employees the ability to spend from your business account, but still set some rules for security purposes.

Expense management with Visa Spend Clarity

Visa Spend Clarity is a business management technology that can help you stay on top of expenses. It offers full control and categorization of transactions, streamlined reporting, mobile receipt uploading, and easy integration into existing accounting software.

Fixed payment plan option

U.S. Bank ExtendPay™️ is a payment option that allows you to divide eligible credit card purchases into monthly payments with a fixed monthly fee instead of interest charges. If your account is eligible, you'll receive a notification via email or see the option in your online account. It's another affordable way to finance business expenses after the 0% intro APR offer ends.

Alternatives to consider

If you want to earn rewards: The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card has a huge sign-up bonus and earns an unlimited 1.5% cash back on purchases. Those benefits make it a better choice for business owners who don't have any debt to pay off and have no need for a lengthy 0% intro APR.

If you travel outside the United States: The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee. That's a key advantage that will save you money every time you're traveling internationally. It's also a quality card with valuable travel rewards and plenty of bonus opportunities.

What could be improved

We've gone over the benefits, and now we'll cover where this U.S. Bank business credit card could do better.

No purchase rewards

The biggest flaw of the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card is that it doesn't earn any rewards on purchases you make, such as cash back or points. That limits its value after you've exhausted the 0% intro APR. Business credit cards that offer rewards, on the other hand, are great for long-term value, since you're getting something back on all your eligible purchases.

No sign-up bonus

Sign-up bonuses are often some of the most valuable credit card features, but you won't get one with this credit card. While it has a great 0% intro APR, a bonus would give it even more upfront value.

Foreign transaction fee

The U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee. If you or your employees go on business trips outside the United States, it's worth browsing more credit card reviews and looking for one that doesn't charge this type of fee.

Suggested Credit Score

A FICO® Score of 670 or higher is suggested to apply for the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card. Even though it's a business credit card, U.S. Bank will review your credit history. Most approved applicants have a score in the good credit or excellent credit range. Your credit score doesn't guarantee you'll be approved or denied, but it is an important factor.

RAISE YOUR APPROVAL ODDS: How to Increase Your Credit Score

The U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card is right for you if:

You have expensive business purchases coming up, or you're paying them off already, and you're looking for a lengthy 0% intro APR.

In either of those situations, the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card is a big money saver. While rewards enthusiasts will need to look elsewhere, this is one of the best credit cards for business owners looking to avoid interest charges.

Our credit card methodology

At Motley Fool Money, we rate credit cards on a five-star scale (1 = poor, 5 = best). Our rating criteria includes rewards rates, welcome bonuses, fees, and perks like travel credits and 0% intro APR offers to evaluate our ratings.

We combine these factors with an evaluation of brand reputation and customer satisfaction to ensure you're getting the best card recommendations. Learn more about how Motley Fool Money rates credit cards.
