Virtual reality was the overwhelming trend to watch in consumer tech this year at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
The technology is fairly new, and some of the most anticipated devices, like the Rift from Facebook's (META 0.90%) Oculus, aren't even in consumers' hands yet, but that hasn't prevented the space from exploding in the past year.
