News Corp is a media and information services company, which engages in the creation and distribution of content and other services. It operates through the following segments: Digital Real Estate Services, Subscription Video Services, Dow Jones, Book Publishing, News Media, and Other. The Digital Real Estate Services segment refers to the firm’s interest in the REA Group, a company with operations focused on property and property-related advertising and services, as well as financial services. The Subscription Video Services segment provides sports, entertainment and news services to pay-TV and streaming subscribers and other commercial licensees, primarily via cable, satellite and internet distribution. The Dow Jones segment offers news and business information, which distributes content and data through a variety of owned and off-platform media channels including newspapers, newswires, websites, mobile apps, newsletters, magazines, proprietary databases, live journalism, video and podcasts. The Book Publishing segment is composed of HarperCollins, which publishes and distributes consumer books globally through print, digital and audio formats. The News Media segment includes the operations of News Corp Australia, News UK, and the New York Post. The Other segment represents general corporate overhead expenses, costs related to the U.K. Newspaper Matters and expenses associated with the company’s cost reduction initiatives. The company was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in New York, NY.
